150930-N-FO981-035 SAN DIEGO (Sept. 30, 2015) - Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Electrical) Fireman Krista Gray tests engineering alarms and safeties for gas turbine engine casualties. Alarms and safeties are critical in preventing damage to equipment and loss of personnel during a casualty. America is currently undergoing a post-shakedown availability (PSA) in which the ship’s crew and assigned contractors make improvements to the ship’s design. America’s PSA will pave the way for future America-class amphibious assault ships. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Jacob Holloway/Released)
