Lowenberg visited 81st BCT Soldiers in Ramadi and Balad during his two-day trip. More than 2,400 members of the Washington Army National Guard's 81st BCT are deployed to various bases across Iraq, including Al-Asad, Q-West, Balad and Al-Taqaddum, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is the second deployment for the 81st BCT.
