Spectators offer support and encouragement through cheerful applause as Sgt. David Davis, a dental specialist with the Fort Hood Dental Activity, approaches the finish line of the 12-mile road march May 2, 2013. After two weeks in the field testing on various medical and warrior tasks, the 12-mile road march was the last task candidates had to complete before they could earn the prestigious Expert Field Medical Badge. The EFMB is one of the toughest non-combat awards Soldiers and officers in the medical field can earn. Out of 261 candidates who went out for EFMB certification, only 44 completed all the tasks necessary to earn the right to wear the badge.
