The United States Army Reserve Drill Sergeant of the Year (USAR DSOY) is a distinguished Army Reserve service member assigned to the 108th Training Command who serves as a vital link between the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), the Center for Initial Military Training (CIMT), and USAR Drill Sergeants. The USAR DSOY's responsibilities include executing special projects and liaising with TRADOC, CIMT, 108th TC and the Army Reserve Drill Sergeant community. Newly elected USAR DSOYs conduct a Basic Combat Training (BCT) 10-week cycle before assuming a 12-month ADOS active duty tour at CIMT HQ.
To support United States Army Reservists on their journey to becoming Drill Sergeants, CSM Mosso, Juddiah, Command Sergeant Major of the 108th Training Command (IET), created the Drill Sergeant Candidate Assessment Program (DSCAP), a preparatory program to streamline requirements for earning the coveted campaign hat.
