Members of the California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GoBiz) and the Regional Economic Action Coalition (REACH) toured key infrastructure sites at Vandenberg Space Force Base Sept. 12, 2025, following the announcement of a "Space Vandenberg" initiative. At the announcement event, GoBiz, awarded REACH a $9.5 million grant to bolster California's space industry infrastructure and expand workforce development opportunities.

The tour showcased Vandenberg's strategic mission areas and ongoing development projects, emphasizing its role as a key hub for space operations. Highlights included visits to United Launch Alliance’s (ULA) Space Launch Complex-3, where modifications are underway to accommodate the Vulcan launch vehicle, as well as SpaceX facilities, the Vandenberg harbor, and the Mission Development Zone. These infrastructure improvements, particularly at the harbor, are designed to meet the growing demands of the Vandenberg Spaceport and Test Range, as well as support Launch Service Providers.

In addition to infrastructure advancements, the group engaged in discussions about workforce development and housing availability—critical factors in sustaining the workforce required to support Vandenberg's expanding operations. The "Space Vandenberg" initiative underscores California's commitment to fostering innovation and growth in the space industry while addressing the needs of the local community.
