Military personnel in camouflage and dress uniforms are gathered in a ceremonial hall for what appears to be a memorial or commemorative event. A projection screen at the front displays an image of the New York City skyline featuring the Twin Towers, suggesting this is a 9/11 remembrance ceremony. The venue is decorated with American patriotic bunting and displays multiple military branch flags.

U.S. service members assigned to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, (CLDJ) gathered to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, remember those affected by the tragedy, and reflect on the events that shaped a generation of service. CLDJ serves as an expeditionary base for U.S. military forces providing support to ships, aircraft and personnel that ensure security throughout Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. The base enables maritime and combat operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-Africa relations. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Eric Stanton)
