U.S. Navy Cmdr. Mark Hlousek, executive officer of Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ), delivers the keynote address during a memorial ceremony where U.S. service members assigned to CLDJ, gathered to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, remember those affected by the tragedy, and reflect on the events that shaped a generation of service. CLDJ serves as an expeditionary base for U.S. military forces providing support to ships, aircraft and personnel that ensure security throughout Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. The base enables maritime and combat operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-Africa relations. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Benjamin K.
