    Fourth- and fifth-grade students at Salcha Elementary School raise the U.S. flag at the beginning of the school day in Salcha, Alaska, Sept. 1, 2026. Members of the Eielson Air Force Base Honor Guard and the 168th Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, taught students about flag protocol, including the history and significance of the U.S. flag, proper folding techniques, and procedures for raising and lowering it.
