Giant conifers and deciduous trees abound along the trail in the Quinault Rain Forest of Olympic National Forest, Washington, Aug. 16, 2026. The Quinault National Recreation Trail System offers visitors views of towering conifers and lush rain forest vegetation. Trails provide excellent year-round viewing of ancient Sitka spruce, Douglas fir and western red cedar on the south shore of Lake Quinault. The Quinault Rain Forest is a temperate rain forest located in the southwestern corner of Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest. (Forest Service photo by Janice Wilson)
