Command Master Chief Rich James, Deputy Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON), provides a Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) brief to the inaugural Enlisted Readiness Council, August 10, 2026. Established by Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. Daryl Caudle, the ERC, chaired by MCPON John Perryman, creates a direct connection between senior enlisted leaders across the Fleet and the Navy’s highest levels of decision-making, and during the three-day conference, members received briefs and worked through issue papers submitted from across the Fleet. The council will meet regularly and provide readiness assessments, recommendations, and issue-focused analysis to the CNO for consideration.
