    A newly germinated beach vitex (Vitex rotundifolia) seedling growing under a boardwalk in Atlantic Beach, Florida. The population had likely been present for several years before being detected, so there are many seeds present in the soil. The small seedlings can be easily hand pulled, as opposed to the larger plants that start to develop woody runners. (USACE photo)
