Three partner nation service members enter a doorway on the second deck of a training vessel during static visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) training with U.S. Marines and U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Unit 301 (PSU 301) in Panama City, Aug. 5, 2026. The hands-on training strengthened boarding procedures, enhanced interoperability and improved the readiness of U.S. and partner forces to conduct maritime security operations together. PANAMAX 2026 scenarios help the defense and public security forces of participating nations improve interoperability, hone their skills during scenarios involving coalition and all-domain operations, forge strong cooperative partnerships, and demonstrate their collective capacity to respond to and deter threats to the region and its critical waterways.
