VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (July 30, 2026) – U.S. Navy Capt. John Nieman, representing the Naval Construction Force or "Seabees," delivers heritage artifact remarks during the command's 20th Anniversary Time Capsule Burial Ceremony at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, July 30. An entrenching tool (E-tool) was selected to represent the Seabees in the time capsule. A constant companion to every Seabee since 1942, the E-Tool represents the ability to fight when necessary and immediately transition to building. This humble but iconic tool honors the generations who have wielded it, symbolizing a legacy of ingenuity, sweat and determination.
