Jason Labott, commander, Maritime Expeditionary Security Group (MESG) 2, retrieves a SeaArk 34’ Dauntless Patrol Boat Model to be placed into Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s time capsule during a burial ceremony at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, July 30. The vessel's history reflects the evolving defense priorities of the United States, transitioning from Cold War blue-water dominance to post-9/11 harbor defense, and more recently, international security assistance. Representatives from various NECC communities provided descriptions of their items as they were added to the capsule to represent the rich history and combat readiness of the force.
