Lt. Gen. Mark Landes, Commanding General of First Army, passes the unit colors to Command Sgt. Maj. Randolph Delapena, incoming Command Sergeant Major of First Army, during the First Army change of responsibility ceremony, Rock Island Arsenal, IL, July 8, 2026. Passing of the unit colors is a formal transfer of trust, authority, and accountability from the outgoing leader to the incoming leader. Command Sgt. Maj. Delapena was previously the command sergeant major for the 82nd Airborne Division located at Fort Bragg, NC, and the outgoing leader, Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Prosser, will move on to become the commandant at the Sergeants Major Academy located in Fort Bliss, TX.
