U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class, Joshua Plante, short term individual augmentee for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency's 2026 Europe-Mediterranean disinterment team, sets the folded U.S. flag in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery chapel to remain until the next day’s opening procedures Nettuno, Italy, June 24, 2026. This year, STIA’s for the Europe disinterments are supported almost entirely by members of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) marking a special collaborative effort with DPAA.
