NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (June 24, 2026) – Cmdr. Joshua Virgavamo, commanding officer of Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53), right, explains the history of John Paul Jones to Vice Adm. Brendan McLane, commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, during a ship visit, June 24. While aboard John Paul Jones, McLane spoke with command leadership and recognized Sailors for excellence. The mission of Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet is to man, train, and equip the Surface Force to provide fleet commanders with credible naval power to control the sea and project power ashore.
