U.S. Army Pfc. Anthony Joseph, 2026 Europe-Mediterranean short term individual augmentee, screens water as it is drained from a site prior to exhuming the casket of an unaccounted for service member at the Florence American Cemetery, Italy, June 17, 2026. Screening the water ensures no potential remains are missed while draining the site. Joseph is one of four STIA’s provided by the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) to support the disinterments across Europe. This year, STIA’s for the Europe disinterments are supported almost entirely by The Old Guard, marking a special collaborative effort with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.
