U.S. service members with the U.S. Special Operations Command Para-Commandos, pose for a photo after rehearsing a military free-fall jump with Mr. Jared Isaacman, NASA administrator, and Sen. Tim Sheehy before a D-Day commemorative airborne operation over Normandy, France, June 7, 2026. The jump connected today's leaders and service members with the historic airborne operations that helped change the course of World War II. From June 2-7, 2026, more than 600 U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Guardians and Airmen from roughly 17 units historically linked to D-Day made up Joint Task Force 82 and participated in over 90 commemorative events throughout the Normandy Region.
