Children from Picauville, France, lay roses while escorted by U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing to pay tribute to the 20 U.S. service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in Picauville, June 5-6, 1944, as part of a D-Day Remembrance Ceremony. The 435th Air Ground Operations Wing has a direct lineage to the 435th Troop Carrier Group, which navigated the skies where this ceremony was held 82 years ago. The ceremony was a solemn tribute to the IX Troop Carrier Command, the 9th U.S. Army Air Force, and the paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. Amber R.
