Children from Picauville, France, stand with roses to pay tribute to the 20 U.S. service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in Picauville, June 5-6, 1944, as part of a D-Day Remembrance Ceremony. The children are standing in front of U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, which has direct lineage to the 435th Troop Carrier Group that navigated these same skies 82 years ago. The ceremony was a solemn tribute to the IX Troop Carrier Command, the 9th U.S. Army Air Force, and the paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. Amber R.
