A decommissioned 22,000-pound Army truck holds a strapped-down sap tank at Twin Maple Sugar Works near the Green Mountain National Forest, VT., April 2, 2026. Don Gale, owner of Twin Maple SugarWorks, uses the truck to transport sap from the forest to the sugarhouse for processing. When the 2,300-gallon sap tank is full, the truck doubles in weight. Harvesting non-timber forest products supports local economies and active forest management. (Forest Service photo by Briana Shepard)
