U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Aaron Chandleur, an explosive ordnance disposal technician for Recovery Team 3, part of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Joint Field Activity 26-3LA, investigates a potential medal hit in a unit at a recovery site in Laos, March 23, 2026. Chandleur is a Short Term Individual Augmentee to DPAA from the 633rd Civil Engineering Squadron, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. The U.S. military flew approximately 580,000 bombing missions over Laos, which accumulated to the dropping of more than two million tons of bombs between 1964 to 1973. EOD personnel ensure the safety of all people present at the recovery site. Currently there are 1,566 personnel unaccounted for from the Vietnam War, 280 of those unresolved cases are located in Laos. (U.S. Air Force Photo by Lt. Col. George Tobias)
