US, Kenya infantrymen conduct joint infantry training during Justified Accord 2026

Kenya Defence Forces soldiers perform care under fire drills on a U.S. Army infantryman with 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts National Guard, during Justified Accord 2026 joint infantry exercises at the KDF School of Infantry, Isiolo, Kenya, March 2, 2026. Care under fire is the first step in the U.S. Military’s Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) matrix of providing immediate medical assistance to soldiers wounded in combat. The training strengthened battlefield medical readiness, improved casualty response capabilities, and enhanced interoperability between U.S. and Kenyan forces by ensuring partner forces can effectively render aid during joint operations.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, this year's exercise incorporates personnel from approximately 15 nations. JA26 is U.S. Africa Command's largest exercise in East Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Elijah Harris)
