U.S. Army infantrymen with 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts Army National Guard, demonstrate enemy prisoner of war tactics during a Justified Accord 2026 bilateral infantry exercise at the Kenya Defence Forces School of Infantry, Isiolo, Kenya, March 2, 2026. The soldiers covered scenarios including processing deceased enemy personnel, identifying potential improvised explosive device threats, and responding to wounded allied forces. The training strengthened small-unit readiness, reinforced safe handling procedures for detainees and battlefield threats, and enhanced interoperability between U.S. and KDF through shared tactics and best practices.
JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, this year's exercise incorporates personnel from approximately 15 nations. JA26 is U.S. Africa Command's largest exercise in East Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Elijah Harris)
