US, Kenya infantrymen conduct joint infantry training during Justified Accord 2026

A Kenyan Defence Forces soldier, and U.S. Army Spc. Martin Farrell, an infantryman assigned to 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts Army National Guard, simulate contact with enemy forces during Justified Accord 2026 joint infantry training at the Kenya Defence Forces School of Infantry, Isiolo, Kenya, March 2, 2026. The duo simulated contact during a joint patrol exercise designed to strengthen bilateral infantry tactics through repetition and instruction of U.S. Army infantry doctrine, improving small-unit readiness, tactical decision-making, and interoperability between partner forces in complex operational environments.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, this year's exercise incorporates personnel from approximately 15 nations. JA26 is U.S. Africa Command's largest exercise in East Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Elijah Harris)
