260225-N-FJ200-1080 WASHINGTON – A miniature 3D-scanned model of original timbers and a rough ship outline of the Continental Navy schooner Royal Savage as it lies on the bottom of Lake Champlain provides guests to the National Museum of the U.S. Navy a detailed conceptualization of the ship after the Battle of Valcour Island in October 1776. The timbers, used by model builder Glenn Grieco of the Texas A&M University Ship Model Laboratory, were instrumental in creating two ship models: one to portray the vessel as it appeared during the Battle of Valcour Island in October 1776 and the other as a wreck on the bed of Lake Champlain.
