U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Kyle Faherty, battalion executive officer with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, welcomes Brig. Gen. Robert Brodie, commanding general of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS San Diego (LPD 22) during routine operations off of the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 2, 2026. Brig. Gen. Brodie visited the USS San Diego to observe the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct routine amphibious combat vehicle operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
