WEST BETHESDA, Md. (June 25, 2025) – A overhead view from the rafters of the David Taylor Model Basin shows the wet dock elevator lowering teams and their human-powered submarines into the water on June 25, 2025, during the 18th International Submarine Races (ISR), at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, from June 23-27, 2025. The ISR serve as a real-world crucible for aspiring naval engineers, providing hands-on problem-solving opportunities in a competition that develops critical domestic scientific and engineering talent for the Navy and America's Maritime Industrial Base.
