WEST BETHESDA, Md. (June 23, 2025) – Team members from Dover Area High School in Dover, Pa., make internal adjustments to their human-powered submarine “Sharky,” on June 23, 2025, during the International Submarine Races (ISR 18) at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division. The ISR serve as a real-world crucible for aspiring naval engineers providing hands-on problem-solving opportunities in a unique competition that develops critical domestic, scientific, and engineering talent for the Navy and America’s Maritime Industrial Base. Carderock, the Navy’s ship design and innovation powerhouse provides the technical foundation for the future fleet through world-class research, development, and testing.
