Fort Bragg, NC — A Civil Affairs soldier swims 100 meters in a water survival exercise in pursuit of the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB). The GAFPB is a challenging physical and mental exercise, open to allied and US servicemembers, and administered by a German Armed Forces commander; it consists of a physical fitness test, ruck march, water survival event, and marksmanship exercise. This collaboration, and others like it, highlights the enduring partnership and camaraderie between US, German, and allied armed forces. (U.S Army photo by Spc. Brandon M. Badder)
