250922-O-NJ594-1054, Sept. 19, 2025, Virginia Beach, Va. -- Dr. Paul Rockswold, a physician epidemiologist with the Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Protection Command (NMCFHPC) teaches a student at the chemistry station during a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event, Sept. 19, 2025, at Naval Air Station Oceana, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The purpose of the station is to inform students about various compounds and how they can create new compounds when they are combined. Staff with the NMCFHPC and Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit TWO set up a variety of interactive stations to educate students in a fun and captivating way and providing hands-on experiences to ignite a spark of interest for STEM. Over 8,000 students attended the event, with many visiting the stations and being introduced to the wide range of scientific and technical career opportunities available in Navy Medicine.
