250922-O-NJ594-1056, Sept. 19, 2025, Virginia Beach, Va. -- El Rone, an information technology specialist with Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Protection Command (NMCFHPC), informs the students about the Demilitarized Zone Cyber Fort Activity during a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event, Sept. 19, 2025, at Oceana Naval Air Station, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The forts simulate cybersecurity firewalls and students can choose to either encrypt or hack them. Staff with the NMCFHPC and Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit TWO set up a variety of interactive stations to educate students in a fun and captivating way and providing hands-on experiences to ignite a spark of interest for STEM. Over 8,000 students attended the event, with many visiting the stations and being introduced to the wide range of scientific and technical career opportunities available in Navy Medicine.
