SAN DIEGO (Oct. 23, 2025) – U.S. Navy Capt. William Mathis, commanding officer, USS Theodore Roosevelt, salutes U.S. Navy Capt. Brian Schrum during a change-of-command ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), Oct. 23, 2025. Schrum turned over command to Mathis during the ceremony, held on Theodore Roosevelt’s flight deck. Theodore Roosevelt, flagship of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9, is underway conducting exercises to bolster strike group readiness and capability in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations.
