DAYTON, Ohio (July 9, 2025) Olivia Slomski, an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) research assistant at Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) Dayton, analyzes data from a CPU terminal next to the off-vertical axis rotation (OVAR) chair. Slomski placed in the top 10 of the national ORISE Ignite Off! competition on August 29 with her presentation, Autogenic Feedback Training Exercise (AFTE): Mitigating Motion Sickness Without Medication. The Ignite Off! competition brings together interns—including undergraduates, recent graduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers—from a broad range of disciplines such as engineering, life sciences, earth sciences, computer and data science, social sciences, physics, and beyond. NAMRU Dayton, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, participates in medical research and development efforts dedicated to advancing warfighter lethality by protecting and enhancing health, readiness and performance through cutting-edge toxicology, environmental health and
