Pfc. Minhyoek Im (left) and Spc. Henry Fetzer (right), Soldiers with 1st Battalion 145th Field Artillery throw unserviceable flags into the fire during the annual Fiesta Days flag retirement ceremony held at the Spanish Fork Rodeo Grounds on July 14, 2025. When flags are no longer serviceable U.S. Flag Code specifies burning as the preferred method to respectfully retire a flag. The tradition of retiring flags in a dignified and somber ceremony during the Spanish Fork City Fiesta Days celebration began in 1998 and has continued through the years.
