Rex Hodges, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency life support investigator, utilizes a global navigation satellite system mapping tool to survey an area during a pre-deployment site survey in Vietnam, May 25, 2025. Team members recorded the location of every excavated piece of aircraft wreckage to develop a map showing the concentration of wreckage on the site. DPAA operates in 45 countries around the world in search of more than 81,000 missing Americans from past conflicts. There are currently 1,567 U.S. personnel missing from the Vietnam War.
