Irish Air Corps Commandant Finbar McArdle, 301st Tactical Helicopter Squadron commanding officer, flies a UH-1N Huey helicopter while a U.S. Air Force flight engineer, 40th Helicopter Squadron, watches the ground below July 15, 2024, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. The 40th Helicopter Squadron hosted two Irish Air Corps pilots for the first round of flying exchanges between the IAC and the 582nd Helicopter Group. Due to their experience in the AW-139, the IAC pilots were able to impart vital lessons learned as well as technical knowledge with both 40 HS and 550th Helicopter Squadron aircrew, including the dangers associated with trusting automated flight systems and structural limitations of their aircraft.
