Irish Air Corps Commandant Finbar McArdle, 301st Tactical Helicopter Squadron commanding officer, flies an UH-1N Huey helicopter July 15, 2024, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. The 40th Helicopter Squadron hosted two Irish Air Corps pilots for the first round of flying exchanges between the IAC and the 582nd Helicopter Group. During their visit, the IAC pilots completed the intensive high alpine advanced flying technique course, comprising 13 hours of academics and 12 flights in the UH1-N Huey. Both pilots were exposed to a variety of challenging, high altitude landing areas including a one-skid hover to a rock shelf, deep saddles, dead-end valleys, alpine meadows, pinnacles and ridge line landings.
