    This is the right humerus of Pvt. John Potter, Co. H, 12th Illinois Cavalry. Potter sustained a gunshot wound in his upper arm while at Kane River, Louisiana, on April 27, 1864. His arm was amputated at the shoulder 17 months after the initial injury due to osteomyelitis and necrosis.
