Candidates in the Special Forces Readiness Evaluation held this past weekend by the 3rd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group, push through at the end of a downed-pilot team event, Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center. The downed-pilot event is both mentally and physically taxing, compounded by the previous four to five hours of grueling ruck marches and team building tasks they performed on the way to the final event. The final exercise involves assembling the carrying apparatus for the weighted bag representing the downed pilot, and then as a team, carrying it over rough terrain and long distances. 3-20th Soldiers use this as a tool to test and observe who individuals conduct themselves and how they treat others while under duress.
