Members of Patriots Hockey, a Southern California ice hockey team comprised of active and former service members, gather for instruction on their next drill during a team practice Jan. 13, 2013, at Iceoplex in Escondido, Calif. Afterward, the team gathered at Players Sports Bar nearby and presented a $1,400 check to Semper Fi Fund’s Laura Castellvi, senior manager of community outreach and events. The team raised the money by selling Patriots Hockey t-shirts and accepting donations during an Ontario Reign game Dec. 1, 2012, at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
