Patriots Hockey winger Michael Izzi, an active duty Marine first lieutenant serving with 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force, carries the puck up ice during a team practice Jan. 13, 2013, at Iceoplex in Escondido, Calif. After practice, the team, comprised of active and former service members, gathered at Players Sports Bar nearby and presented a $1,400 check to Semper Fi Fund’s Laura Castellvi, senior manager of community outreach and events. The team raised the money by selling Patriots Hockey t-shirts and accepting donations during an Ontario Reign game Dec. 1, 2012, at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
