U.S. Army Reserve 2nd Lt. Katherine Simpson, a movement control officer from the 793rd Movement Control Team, 510th Regional Support Group 7th Mission Support Command, takes vehicle accountability during port operations at the Port of Adria, Bar Montenegro as part of her unit's mission to support exercise Immediate Response, one of three linked exercises in the Defender Europe series, May 14, 2023.
Ex. Immediate Response 23 takes place from May 22 - June 2, and begins with the deployment of a combat credible force consisting of the Minnesota National Guard’s 34th Infantry Division Headquarters, an Infantry Battalion Task Force, and other enablers from the U.S. to Europe. After completing reception, staging, and onward movement (RSOM), the units draw equipment from Army Prepositioned Stocks, and conduct multi-national combined arms training in the Balkans. Counties participating in Immediate Response include: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, and the United States. Immediate Response includes approximately 2,800 U.S. and 7,000 multi-national participants takes place primarily in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Slovenia.
