PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 15, 2022) – Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Jhoelmy Paulagil prepares to tag out an electrical panel while performing corrective maintenance on a refrigerant leak sensing system aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Nov. 15, 2022. Performing maintenance on sensing systems prevent leakage of refrigerant, which contains toxic gases that cannot be detected. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship Makin Island and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
