    PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 11, 2022) – U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Joshua Bates, an aviation mechanic assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor (VMM) 362 (Rein.), 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, pumps hydraulic fluid made from mineral oil into a hydraulic filter in the hangar bay aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Nov. 11, 2022. Conducting maintenance is necessary to prevent corrosion to equipment and ensure personnel safety. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship Makin Island and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P.
