A U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242 takes off from Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, during RED FLAG-Alaska 22-1, May 2, 2022. The F-35B is the Marine Air-Ground Task Force’s first choice to penetrate, punish and persist in contested environments, providing a day-one strike capability. Integrated with other U.S. and international assets, the F-35B’s tactical agility and strategic flexibility are critical to maintain a long-term decisive advantage.
