Staff Sgt. Joshua Huntley, 377th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal team member, communicates with a teammate during a training exercise April 27, 2022, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Huntley was tasked to search the area for any additional radioactive or explosive hazards that may have been present, which was a key part of the exercise. Malmstrom EOD hosted HYDRA FURY 22, a joint training exercise with Air Force EOD flights, FBI, Defense Threat Reduction Agency and Department of Energy personnel. HYDRA FURY tested the agencies abilities to work together and effectively respond to a variety of incidents. The exercise involved interagency accident and incident protocols, reach-backs to headquarters and national-level teams, crime scene preservation, evidence collection and consequence-management protocols. The interoperability between these agencies ensure the mission set is upheld: Airmen providing strategic deterrence, global strike and combat support…anytime, anywhere!
