Senior Airman Scott Sorenson, 377th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal team member, lays in a prone position to protect himself from a simulated detonation during a training exercise April 27, 2022, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Sorenson acted as backup for the team leader, ready to provide medical assistance if needed. Malmstrom EOD hosted HYDRA FURY 22, a joint training exercise with Air Force EOD flights, FBI, Defense Threat Reduction Agency and Department of Energy personnel. HYDRA FURY tested the agencies abilities to work together and effectively respond to a variety of incidents. The exercise involved interagency accident and incident protocols, reach-backs to headquarters and national-level teams, crime scene preservation, evidence collection and consequence management protocols. The interoperability between these agencies ensure the mission set is upheld: Airmen providing strategic deterrence, global strike and combat support…anytime, anywhere!
