U.S. Marines and Navy Sailors load an Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) with 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division onto amphibious dock landing ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) during pierside training onboard Naval Base San Diego, Jan. 27. The pierside training was conducted in advance of a two-day waterborne training evolution focused on safety and transport capabilities for both the Marine Corps and Navy and is part of a larger training plan to refine tactics and doctrine for amphibious operations.
